Our 2013 Heroes

Meet our Heroes. Read below to learn about the amazing men and women participating in this year’s Dancing With Our Heroes Gala.

Emily Santostefano

Partnered with Professional Dancer – Andrew Kerski

Emily grew up in Glastonbury, CT.  Nine days after graduating high school, she shipped out to Basic Training in San Antonio, Texas.  After Basic, she went to Biloxy, Mississippi for tech school to become an information manager, after which she was station at Dover Air Force Base in Delaware.  Emily deployed to Iraq, and after returning to Delaware was sent for a 1 year tour to Korea.  Upon her return, Emily received orders to Nellis Air Force Base in Las Vegas, Nevada, where she spent 3 years after retraining to become a paralegal in the Air Force.  In 2011, she made the choice to go off active duty, in order to move herself and her three year old daughter home to Glastonbury, CT.  She now serves as a reservist.

Vote for Emily! The cost of a vote is a $1 donation to the Fisher House. You may vote as many times as you wish, online or in person at the November Gala. The Hero with the most votes will be crowned our “People’s Favorite!”

Emily is currently a project manager and office manager for a Business Computer Solutions Company in Westbrook, CT. She has three younger brothers, and is third generation USAF. Two of her brothers currently serve: one in the Guard and another participating in the ROTC program at UConn (he was recently accepted to become a USAF pilot). Emily enjoys two step and country line dancing, but has never set foot on the Ballroom Dance floor – she’s been hoping to do this for a long time and is excited to give it a try!
